Basketball excitement is returning to Talbot County as the Talbot County Parks and Recreation Department prepares to host the GRPA Youth Basketball Tournament from February 23–26 and February 28, 2026, at the Talbot County Recreation Center, located at 545 Washington Avenue in Talbotton, Georgia. This highly anticipated tournament will bring together talented young athletes from across the region for several days of competitive play, sportsmanship, and community spirit.
The tournament will feature teams competing in multiple age divisions, including 8U, 10U, 14U Girls, and 14U Boys. Participating teams will include Talbot County, Blakely-Early County, Mitchell County, Macon County, Turner County, Fitzgerald, and Dooly County, making this event a showcase of youth basketball talent from throughout the area.
Games will be played under official Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) rules and will be officiated by certified officials, ensuring a high-quality and fair competitive environment for all players. In addition to exciting gameplay, attendees can enjoy a full concession stand and the assurance of on-site security, helping create a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for families and fans.
Tournament games will begin each evening during the preliminary rounds, with the following schedule:
- February 23: 5:30 PM
- February 24: 6:00 PM
- February 25: 6:00 PM
- February 26: 6:30 PM
- Championship Games – February 28: 12:00 PM
Admission for spectators is affordable, making it easy for the entire community to attend and support these young athletes. Admission (6 and older) is $8 and children five years old and under are admitted free.
Teams interested in participating can register for a team entry fee of $205. This tournament offers young players an opportunity to compete at a high level while building teamwork skills, confidence, and lasting memories through youth athletics.
